About Kottakkal

Kottakkal is a town located in the Malappuram District of Kerala. It is located 12 km away from the town of Malappuram. Kotakkal is renowned all over India for its Ayurvedic Institute, the Arya Vaidya Sala. The festival of Kottakkal Pooram is celebrated in a grand way in the Sree Viswambhara Temple and draws many people from the surrounding regions and neighbouring states as well.

Kottakkal, earlier known by the name Swetha Durgam, was a military base for the kingdom of Valluvanad and the home of their priest and governing head, Karuvayoor Moosad. Kottakkal rulers fought against the British and tried to stop their expansion they also waged war defending their land from Tipu Sultan. Scholars like Manorama Thampuratty and Kunhikuttan Thamparan (who has translated the Mahabharatha), were also from Kottakkal.

Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala

    Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala (AVS) is a century old Charitable Institution engaged in the practice and propagation of Ayurveda, the ancient health care system of India located in Malappuram District of Kerala State. AVS offers classical Ayurvedic medicines and authentic Ayurvedic treatments and therapies to patients from all over India and abroad.AVS was established at Kottakkal in Kerala State of India in 1902 by the visionary physician and philanthropist, the late Vaidyaratnam P.S. Varier.

Vishwambara Temple

    Vishwambara Temple is a temple located in Kottakkal town of Malappuram District of Kerala . Vishwambara Temple is dedicated to Lord Dhanavanthri an incarnation of Lord Vishnu and is known as the Master of Ayurveda . Many devotees and tourist flocks here to offer prayers to lord as he is said to cure the diseases that medicines cant cure .

Adyanpara Waterfall

    he gushing Adyanpara waterfall and the lush forest surrounding it are a treat to the senses. One can also spot a lot on interesting birds here. The Adyanpara waterfall is an ideal picnic spot.

Manjeri

    Manjeri is a town located in Malappuram District of Kerala India. Manjeri lies at the foothills of the Western Ghats nestled in between the Arabian Sea and the Nilgiris.The eastern side of Manjeri town is a hilly area. There are many hilltops near Manjeri town which are quite famous like Vettekode , Pullancheri beautiful place with hills, scenery, dam and Kadalundy River , Pandallur Hills .

Padinharekara Beach

    Padinharekara Beach is a famous beach located in Malappuram District of Kerala Near Tirur Town. It is here one can see the confluence of the River Bharatha, River Tirur and the Arabian Sea , its a beautiful view seeing three water bodies meeting in the sea. The sand on the beach is white surrounded by swaying palm grooves at seashore. It is a famous tourist spot in Malappuram Known for its scenic beauty.
